ABOUT Neuromodulators INJECTIONS

Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are Health-Canada approved injectable neuromodulators used in aesthetic medicine to soften the appearance of dynamic facial lines caused by repetitive muscle movement. Both contain purified botulinum toxin type A, a safe and extensively studied protein that has been used in cosmetic medicine for over three decades. Common treatment areas include the forehead, frown lines (glabellar lines), crow’s feet, and other areas where muscle activity contributes to visible wrinkles.

Beyond cosmetic applications, neuromodulators are also used therapeutically to treat conditions such as chronic migraines, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, teeth grinding (bruxism), and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

As with any medical aesthetic treatment, proper technique, dosing, and anatomical knowledge are essential to achieving optimal outcomes and minimizing risk. This is why all treatments at YMG are delivered by trained, regulated healthcare professionals under medical oversight.

Different brands of Neuromodulators

We offer two Health Canada-approved neuromodulators—Botox® and Dysport® ,each designed to smooth forehead lines and glabellar lines (“the 11s”)

Botox®

– Contains the highest concentration of complexing  proteins 
–  Full results visible within 10-14 days
–  Delivers precise, targeted results

Dysport®

– Contains complexing proteins surrounding the botulinum toxin molecule
– Results appear within 3-10 days (faster onset)
– Provides a softer, more natural appearance

How long do neuromodulators last?

Neuromodulator treatments reach their full aesthetic effect within 10-14 days following your appointment. Results typically last 3-4 months, after which the product is naturally metabolized by the body.

Follow-Up Care

We require all clients to return for assessment appointment two weeks post-treatment. This essential follow-up allows us to evaluate your results and perform any refinements needed to ensure optimal outcomes based on your aesthetic goals.

Results typically last 3-6 months. Some patients experience longer-lasting effects (4-6 months) with regular treatments as muscles become trained to relax. Maintenance appointments are recommended every 3-6 months.

Both are botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators with nearly identical mechanisms of action. Dysport has smaller protein molecules that may diffuse slightly more and onset slightly faster (2-3 days vs 10-14 days). 

Pre-Care Guidelines

  • Avoid alcohol 24–48 hours prior
  • Stay well hydrated
  • Contact your provider to discuss your current medications

Post-Care Guidelines

  • Do not touch or massage treated areas for 24 hours
  • Remain upright for at least 4 hours
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours
  • Avoid heat exposure (sauna, steam, hot yoga) for 24 hours
  • Follow all personalized instructions provided by your provider

During Treatment

  • Treatment time: approximately 20 minutes
  • Small injections using a fine needle
  • Minimal discomfort: numbing is typically not required

After Treatment

  • Mild redness or swelling may occur temporarily
  • Results begin appearing within a few days
  • Full results visible at two weeks

Initial effects appear within 3-4 days, with full results visible at 10-14 days. This timeline allows the neuromodulator to fully bind to nerve receptors and relax targeted muscles.

Yes. Neuromodulators are often combined with dermal fillers, microneedling, PRP treatments, or skin resurfacing for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Your injector will discuss combination approaches during your consultation.

Yes. Botox and Dysport have been used safely for over 30 years with extensive clinical research supporting their safety and efficacy. When administered by qualified medical professionals using Health Canada-approved products, neuromodulators are considered very safe.

The ultra-fine needles and your injector’s gentle technique minimize discomfort. Topical numbing is available if requested but rarely necessary.
