About Dermal Filler Injections

Dermal fillers are used in aesthetic medicine to restore volume, refine facial contours, improve symmetry, and soften lines and folds caused by aging, genetics, or facial volume loss. At YMG Aesthetic Clinic, filler treatments are delivered within a medical framework, guided by facial assessment, advanced anatomical knowledge, and individualized treatment planning.

Most modern fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the skin that supports hydration, elasticity, and volume. Common areas treated include the lips, cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, tear troughs, and other areas where volume loss or contour irregularities are present. Lip fillers are a specialized application of dermal fillers, focused on shape, hydration, symmetry, and proportion-not simply “bigger lips.”

Every face is different, and filler is never approached with a one-size-fits-all mindset. Prior to treatment, we assess facial anatomy, symmetry, skin quality, movement, and your goals. This allows us to design a treatment plan that enhances natural features while respecting facial harmony.

Results are often visible immediately, although mild swelling can temporarily affect appearance. Final results typically settle within 1–2 weeks. Depending on the product used, treatment area, and individual metabolism, results may last anywhere from 6 to 18 months (and sometimes longer).

How long do Dermal Fillers Last

Dermal filler results are often immediate, with final results settling as swelling resolves within 1–2 weeks. Longevity typically ranges from 6–18 months, depending on:

  • Treatment area (higher movement areas like lips metabolize faster)
  • Product type and density
  • Your metabolism, lifestyle, and facial movement patterns

Follow-Up Care:

After dermal filler treatment, client are typically reassessed 4-6 weeks post-procedure once swelling has fully resolved and the product has settled. A follow up appointment may be recommended to evaluate treatment outcomes, facial balance, and patient satisfaction. Additional treatment, if required, is individualized and discussed at that time.

No. Our approach prioritizes balance, proportion, and natural enhancement. The goal is for people to say you look refreshed—not to ask what you got done (unless you want them to… and even then we’ll keep you classy 😄).

Botox relaxes muscles to prevent dynamic wrinkles from forming. Dermal fillers add volume and fill static wrinkles, folds, or areas of volume loss. They address different concerns and are often used together for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Most hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if medically necessary.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have been used safely for over two decades with extensive clinical research supporting their safety and efficacy. When administered by qualified medical professionals using Health Canada-approved products, dermal fillers are considered very safe. All HA fillers are also reversible with hyaluronidase enzyme.

Absolutely. Male filler treatments focus on maintaining masculine structure—often enhancing the jawline, chin, midface support, and under-eye hollows while preserving natural proportions.

Most patients schedule maintenance treatments every 9-18 months to maintain results. The frequency depends on the treatment area, product used, and how quickly your body metabolizes the filler.

Most patients describe minimal discomfort. Modern fillers contain lidocaine for comfort, and topical anesthetic can be applied before treatment. The sensation is typically brief pressure or pinching. Lips are more sensitive but tolerable for most patients.
