PRP Hair & Facial Treatment

What is PRP Treatment?

Blood is drawn from the client’s arm into a special vial. During PRP therapy platelets are separated from the client’s blood and are contained in high concentrations in the vial. This concentrated plasma is then used on any part of the body to promote growth, healing, and rejuvenation.

Platelets in concentrated plasma entering the body trigger release of growth factors from the body which are responsible for tissue healing through a powerful and natural process.

PRP can be used in many therapies such as hair loss therapy and facials.

Benefits

PRP Hair Treatment

When PRP is injected into the skin (dermis) on the scalp,  the growth factor can stimulate the revival of dormant hair bulbs resulting in the development of hair follicles and promoting hair growth. This will generally result in healthier looking hair follicles and much more hair growth. Three to five treatments are recommended every 4 to 6 weeks. Then maintenance therapy is recommended every 3 to 6 months.

Is It Effective?

It has been shown that PRP injection treatments slow down hair loss and make existing hairs stronger by increasing the diameter of hairs and density of ingrown hairs. The number of platelets in the plasma affects the effectiveness of PRP treatments.
PRP is equally effective for both male and female patterns of alopecia or hair loss. PRP therapy is also often recommended after a hair transplant to sustain the results and encourage hair growth and strength.

PRP Hair Treatment Side Effects

PRP is mostly composed of a person’s blood components and so side effects of PRP injection therapy are very minimal and manifested mostly locally at injection sites:
Mild pain, tenderness, swelling at injection sites
Itching as a result of healing
Some bleeding and minimal bruising at injection sites
PRP Hair Treatment Procedure.

Preparation of PRP for hair loss injections consists of the following steps:
A health care professional (MD, RN, NP) perform venipuncture and collects blood from the client’s vein.
The blood collected in the PRP vial is then placed in a centrifuge, where it is rotated for approximately 10 mins at a high speed.
During the centrifuge process, the blood separates into red blood cells, white blood cells at the bottom of the vial, and plasma enriched with platelets, proteins, and growth factors at the top of the vial forming golden-colored liquid which is then drawn into the syringe.
The health care provider then injects PRP into scalp areas with hair loss.

Before and After PRP Hair Treatment

It is recommended to avoid certain medications 24-48 hours before and after the PRP injection treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding at injection sites:
Aspirin
Ibuprofen (Advil)
Fish oil capsules or omega 3 supplements
Multivitamins as they may contain omega 3 And Vitamin E
Alcohol, especially red wine.
Please eat your breakfast or snack before your appointment to prevent feeling lightheaded and dizzy due to the blood draw procedure.
If you take other blood-thinning medications, you must consult your family physician about the possibility of stopping those medications before PRP treatments.
Please make sure you wash your hair before your PRP treatment, do not put any lotions or substances on your hair before your treatment.
After your PRP treatment please make sure to avoid saunas, pools, direct sun to allow injection sites to fully heal. Do not wash your hair at least 24-48 hours post-treatment.

PRP Facial

A PRP facial rejuvenation, also known as a vampire facial, is an advanced skincare treatment method that harnesses your body’s own natural power to heal itself. It is often called a vampire facial because it involves drawing your blood. When the platelets in the plasma are concentrated, magic happens.

Vampire facial is a potent combination of Microneedling and PRP therapy. This procedure is done with plasma enriched platelets used in the place of serum. Microneedling is known as collagen induction therapy and triggers skin rejuvenation and healing. When Microneedling is paired with PRP, healing and remodeling of skin becomes even more intense with extremely pronounced skin rejuvenation and boosts collagen and elastin production along with tissue repair and vessel growth.

Some Benefits of PRP Facial

Increased Collagen Production
Reduced Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Tighter, Firmer Skin
Improved Moisture Retention
Enhanced Skin Tone and Texture
No Downtime Is Required
Younger-looking skin, even in color and texture
Reduction in a number of small wrinkles and lines
Reduction in the appearance of scars, acne scars, and stretch marks

PRP Treatment for Tear Trough

The tear troughs are located at the inner corners of the eyes, next to the nose. As we age, people will often encounter problems with this particular facial feature in the form of hollowing, often due to the depletion of the fat in the area. This can also occur in much younger patients due to loss of cheek volume after having lost a lot of weight.
When addressing the tear trough area, especially when there are no fat pockets present in the area, a combination approach of volume correction and skin quality enhancement is best. This combination approach usually consists of a Submalar implant or hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler, in order to correct the lack of volume in the area, and platelet-rich plasma, to improve the quality and pigmentation of skin.

Procedure

PRP for tear trough is done via injections using a cannula for maximum safety and minimal bruising. PRP injected in tear troughs diminishes darkness under the eyes and promotes collagen production and improves skin quality and color. The result is brighter lighter skin under the eyes and diminished wrinkles and sagging under the eyes.
